3 prototype games for my CART 315 class

1. Last Breath Of A New Empire

  • Interactive narrative
  • Mild resource management
  • Sci fi political interest
  • RTS-style strategy game set in space
  • Heavy focus on dialogue
  • Stellaris-like interface, but with less tension and more whimsicality
  • Story focuses on the player as a shopkeeper, watching the collapse of an inter-galactic empire through sales and conversations
  • Some resource-management and special events here and there

2. Kharkovchanka

  • Infinite and procedurally generated levels
  • Dynamic vehicle controls
  • Snow physics
  • Task-based research game
  • Semi-historical setting
  • Procedurally-generated
  • Research mechanics
    • Star tracking
    • Meteorite discovery
    • Ice core drilling

3. Vehementia

  • Heavy focus on balancing narrative and combat
  • “Feel-good” combat, with satisfying responsiveness
  • Integration of voice lines and accompanying animated text
  • Replayability, with moments of reprieve for proper pacing
  • Is it possible to make an (at least mildly) ethical ultra-violent game?
  • How can we use calm and/or proper narratives to counteract this?
  • Use of gameplay “momentum” to sway player emotion
